One reason is that human beings are very curious about strange things and want to understand them. Ghost are things which cannot be easily expalined. Some people think that there are no such thing as ghost. Even scientist, who can tell us so many things about the world around us, cannot explain ghost to us. That is why ghost continue to be so interesting.

There is another reason that is some times given to explain why ghost stories are so popular. We all like to be frightened! It sounds strange doesn't it? Watch a person who listen to a really frightening ghost stories. His eyes become larger, his mouth opens and his hand turn cold.
He moves closer to his friends, as it he is scared to be alone. Yet he continues to listen to frightening tale and does not want to miss one word of it.
